24 of us attended the Hadden Hill Away Day which is always a favourite – I’m not sure if it’s because of the 2 course Christmas dinner with Christmas pudding, or the fact you can wear your Christmas jumpers.
The weather forecast looked like heavy rain for most of the day, but thankfully it turned out to be just a light drizzle for an hour or so. Due to the numbers, we changed toe format of the day to be a Best 2 of 4 Ball Competition between 6 groups. We were due to tee off from the 10th, but as the 1st became free due to members cancelling, we took the advantage with 3 groups playing off the 1st and 3 groups off the 10th. This would mean we would get back to the clubhouse before it started getting too dark and we could tuck into our dinner sooner.
We still kept the NTP competition which was won by Simon Jones.
The top scoring group was Brian Monnery, Peter Saunders, Derek Copson and Chris Smyth who were several points clear of the 2nd placed group.
It was decided that Steve Gray wore the best Christmas Jumper and as you will see from the photograph, it will be hard to beat.
This is the last Away Day this year and my last as Captain, so I hope you all enjoyed your days away, the golf, the camaraderie, the prizes and the food.
