We are a group of keen, amateur golfers of all abilities, based at Drayton Park Golf Club, Abingdon
We hope the notes below may help both new members, and anyone interested in joining the group, to understand what we do and how we operate.
Tuesday and Friday Sign-Ups:
We play every Tuesday and Friday morning at Drayton Park with tee times between 10 & 11am. We always advise that you are on the tee 20-30 mins before your scheduled time as we can sometimes start a little earlier than planned.
An email will be sent to you prior to each sign-up for you to accept or decline if you are playing on that particular day. If you reply ‘yes’, you will be given notification the day beforehand of who you will be playing with and your tee time.
For the Tuesday sign-up, you will receive an invitation email on the preceding Friday evening. This email contains a link to a form that you need to complete and submit by 4pm on Monday. You will receive a reminder email on the Monday morning and tee times are then circulated by email on Monday evening.
A similar system operates for the Friday sign-up with the invitation email being circulated on Tuesday evening, the form needs to be submitted by 4pm Thursday and the allocated tee times are circulated on Thursday evening.
Sign-Up Competitions:
We organise a programme of optional competitions throughout the year. All competition scores should be entered onto the TOFS website (www.tofsgolf.blogspot.com). If you wish to be eligible for prizes in these competitions there is an annual entry charge of £15 (towards the cost of prizes). You can still play in the competitions without paying the £15 but just won’t be eligible for any prizes. If you prefer, you can also play in the sign-ups and not enter your round into the competition.
Awaydays:
We hold monthly awaydays at different clubs, usually between March and December, for a maximum of 24 players.
There is a fee for these awaydays that normally includes breakfast, 18 holes of golf, a meal afterwards and prizes. We try to keep the cost to around £50 per awayday.
There is an optional one-off returnable deposit of £40 for the awaydays. (This is so we can book golf clubs that require a down payment in advance.) You can still apply to play in the awaydays without paying the deposit, however, in the case of over-subscription, members who have paid the £40 deposit have precedence over those who have not.
An email invitation to each awayday is sent approximately 2 weeks beforehand. The 24 spaces are usually filled very quickly so keep an eye out for the email!
TOFS Shirts:
The TOFS have their own team shirts, primarily worn for awaydays. We can only order these in batches of six so, if you would like a shirt to wear on the awaydays, let us know and you’ll be added to the waiting list.
Group Email:
We have a group email address (tofsgolf@googlegroups.com). Any member can send emails to that address and it will automatically send a copy to all the group members. You will be invited to join this group email when you join the TOFs. You need to accept this invitation in order to receive emails about the Tues/Fri sign-ups.
