23 of us made the short trip down the A420 to Wrag Barn. (Our 24th suffered a diary malfunction)! It was good to welcome three first time awaydayers – Tim Church and Steve Gray and Lee Wooldridge.
We were greeted with the full works English breakfast, washed down with a 12 year old rum tipple on the tee courtesy of Brian White who nursed it all the way back from Barbados.

Tipple on the Tee |
The mid morning mist on the first did its best to veil both good and not so good drives, then lifted to reveal a green and well kept course in full autumn sunshine. So different from last year when it was drizzle for all 18 holes.
The tricky greens – some slow others fast, meant that even our most decorated putter, Terry Stacey took 29 putts to win the lowest number of putts prize … again. Congratulations Terry, I think that’s the third time – you may as well keep that coveted trophy!
Nearest the Pin was newcomer Steve Gray, surely a name to feature on future leaderboards. Best Stableford score went to Chris Smyth who managed 39 points. I went round with Chris, his recovery shots and chips on to the green were awesome - well deserving of the big prize. Well done Chris.
Brian White won the Most Golf Played bottle of wine. We can sympathise as he’s played the least golf in the last four months. Ridiculous green fees in his adopted country require a mortgage with a second to pay for the mandatory caddie. I’ve scrubbed Barbados from our Away Day venues.
