After a delish bacon roll and a shot of Brian’s Glenmorangie we were set to conquer the ups and downs of Hennerton. The recently sanded greens reminded me of home – Bondi Beach that is, and the 7th tee was like standing on the Sydney Harbour Bridge - you could almost throw your ball to the green 70 ft below.
Some of us conquered better than others. There was an 18 point gap between the worst golfer – Yours Truly on 25 and the best, Frank Parnell and John Scoble on 43 points. These had to be separated on count back with Frank taking the winner’s trophy with 20 points on the back nine.
It was just as close for the other comps. Dave Bolus and Rob Lindley tied the Lowest Putts on 30 each with Dave winning it on another countback.
Nearest the Pin was on the 5th – another vertiginous par 3, and was taken by Terry Rapple who was a wallaby’s whisker closer than Brian Monnery.
Congrats to the winners and nearly winners, myself excluded. No one came close to wresting from me the honour of The Most Golf Played.
