Hadden Hill Away Day - 11th December 2018

Graham H receives TOFS Trophy from Humph
Fifteen TOFS and three Haddonites gathered together for the 2018 Christmas John Stanley Trophy although sadly Peter S had to leave at the start following an earlier injury and Haddonite Peter Hands could not attend, so we wish them a quick recovery.

Due to forward planning we had a crisp and sunny day and the five groups (all arriving on time for the Baps) safely manoeuvred the course without incident. The TOFS came second to the Haddonites – with the exception of Clifford’s NTP; we must try harder next year despite not having the home advantage.

So the wheels nearly came off when the cards were in and we had multiple top scores. However, being adept mathematicians, we  remembered that we had forgotten TOFS rule 35b also applied at away-days and, as soon as we had recovered from the shock (Frank would not have made such a juvenile mistake!), it was obvious that Graham H was the rightful successor to the TOFS Trophy and that David Morgan just snatched the JST from fellow Haddonite Terry by outperforming him with his putter.

There was also a tie for the putting competition with Dave Bo, Graham H and David Morgan sharing the prize pot.

Full TOFS results can be found here.  The Haddonites scored as follows:
Terry Rapple        37 points / 32 putts
Andy Stocks        31 points / 36 putts
David Morgan     37 points / 30 putts

There was a noticeable absence of singing but that was probably due to enjoying the victuals and the good company of the Home Team.  Following my request for tape measures they were all put in Santa’s Sack and seem to have been breeding. I’ll try and return the miscreants on the 18th.

After toasting John's Memory I could announce that Muriel has confirmed she will attend the lunch in 2019.
