TOFS Trophy Winner - Rob Strange |
I think sunnier climes attracted many with Les in Portugal, Brian W in Oz and Humph in India to name but a few.
So where to start for my final report of the year and my term as Captain (I won't be at Hadden Hill so someone else can report). Well we all found the course without any issues with Sat Navs, although once there finding the location of the rest of us did prove a tad difficult for one or two, a meeting of bankers was interupted a few times! It was yet another fine Tuesday (have we had a wet one?) and an interesting course with several ditches and trees to catch the unwary.
After our coffee and bacon rolls we ventured forth to practice a few chips to the practice green and some putting whilst we waited for the ladies to tee off (bit like Drayton). Once we got going we found our way around the course fairly well, although your captain did find the ditch on the first hole twice! There were some nice short par 3 holes but it didn't help us as whilst we could reach the green easily our direction was mostly off and we missed it! Three people did actually get onto a green to be measured, see below.
Once finished we were given the upstairs room for our meal, which was where the bankers had met. They had left a lot of their buffett lunch, and we were informed it was only going to be thrown away, so we could help ourselves. Well that was an invitation not to be missed, so several of us had some starters and cake, from that, around our Ham Egg & Chips. Several then collected more food that was left to take home for their supper. Dave Leak was last seen with armsfull of a large selction of goodies, which he insisted were for his wife! All in all after we had finished there wasn't much left to be thrown away.
So to the results, below are the top three in each category the full results being in the results section elsewhere on the site. Rob Strange ended up with the trophy as he was second to Brian Monery who won the trophy earlier in the year and was therefore not entitled to it again. The putting was jointly won by Clifford & Terry in a close contest, whilst Clifford also walked off with the nearest the pin.
