Hot Golf and Jam Roly Poly - Shrivenham Park 24th July 2018

Brian wins TOFS trophy with 38 points
What another very hot day out that was, once again 13 of us enjoyed a different course where the sun shone all day (again), although this time with some breeze at times to help when we found some shade.

The day started with a couple of members having trouble with their Sat Nav's and only just arriving in time for the bacon baps. (yes I did say bacon, it appears that the club had not told the cook we had ordered sausages!!)

The course was in good condition for the current weather and the best thing was that the rough was also very short so it was difficult to loose balls in it.  However there were plenty of trees to hit and Dave Leak managed to loose a ball on a par 3 when he tried to go through some trees to the green!

Whilst the rough may have been short there were plenty of other hazards to content with not least that several fairways had very steep slopes from one side to the other.  Several times we hit a ball down one side of the fairway only to find it on the other side when we got up to it!

Signage on the course did leave a bit to be desired at some points, however all but one group managed to navigate around successfully.  This one group had great trouble locating the 10th tee after completing the 9th and had to go into the club house for directions!  It may have been a coincidence but it was interesting that Dave Bolus had trouble with his Sat Nav in finding the course, and was also in the group that couldn't find the 10th!
Rob - 30 Putts

Once the golf was finished we enjoyed a very good meal of Ham Egg & Chips followed by the pièce de résistance of Jam Roly Poly and custard.  This was delicious and the two members that decided they didn't want any were swamped with offers from the other 11 to have seconds, despite the weather!!  All in all a hot but extremely good day of golf once again.
