April Eclectic

After a final day of thrills and spills (and pretty ropey scoring) the final results of the Eclectic Competition are in!

Gross Competition

Brian Wray
In the Gross competition Brian Wray, myself and Steve Bury all gained one stroke on our previous scores but this
didn’t change the overall result which is:

  1. Brian Wray – 71 shots (Brian wins the prize of £15 and a sleeve of balls)
  2. Rob Lindley – 73 (winning £10 for second place on countback over the back 9)
  3. Steve Bury – 73 (winning £5 for third place)
  4. Lee Wooldridge – 75
  5. Dave Bolus – 76
  6. Andrew Shepheard – 76

Jim Hetherington
Stableford Competition

The Stableford competition saw a more exciting final day.  Jim started the day in third place level with Brian White but 3 points behind myself but pars on holes 2 and 4 brought him back level and then a 6 on the par 5 fifth hole took him into the lead.

I thought I had levelled things up with a birdie on the par 5 sixth (the only hole I played well all day) but then I remembered that the par I had got there before was when I had a higher handicap and one more shot on that hole. D’Oh!  Jim then sealed the deal (rubbed my nose in it) with a 5 on the 18th giving him another point and taking him well clear.

A well deserved win for Jim reinforcing his reputation as the “#1 Bandit in the TOFS” with a total score of 59 points.

In the battle for third Alex got the one point he needed to level things with Brian White but Brian stayed in third thanks to countback over the back 9.  Alex blames poor club selection for his inability to get that extra shot.  There is some good news for Alex on the prize front (see below):

  1. Jim H – 59 points (Jim wins £15 and a sleeve of balls and a dodgy reputation)
  2. Rob Lindley – 57 (not allowed to win two cash prizes in the same competition so …)
  3. Brian White – 54 (…wins £10 after being effectively promoted to second place for prize giving)
  4. Alex Fraser – 54 (Alex wins £5 with his promotion to effective third)
  5. Paul Wynn – 53
  6. Brian Wray - 53

Thanks to everyone for taking part.
