Sherfield Oaks AwayDay - May 2023

Fifteen of us attended the Sherfield Oaks Away Day, joined by Brian White who was back from his long vacation (sorry, work) in the Caribbean. The weather was ideal, as was the bacon roll and coffee before hand.

The Tipple on the Tee
The Tipple of the Tee was provided by Rob Lindley, a very nice Caribbean rum to get us going.

“Beware of the rough” we were warned (several times). “If you go in the rough you’ll struggle to find your ball”.

Did we listen? It seems that only 1 person did.

Malcolm Peck - Best Stableford (47)
& Lowest Putts (25)
Malcolm Peck scored his best score ever getting 47 points. This was also the first time he’s got below a 100, so a good milestone to crack. His handicap has now been cut to 35.1 as a result. His picture wearing the ‘Bandit’ hat is here for you all to see. Well done Malcolm.

Dave Bolus was in second with 41 points, with Steve Bury in third with 36 points.

This years Away Days winning scores have been 42, 45 and 47: surely no-one will get to 50?

Malcolm also won the least number of putts with 25, closely followed by Steve Bury with 26. This equals the best lowest puts score achieved by Dave Bolus at Shrivenham in August 2021

David Roberts - Nearest The Pin
Nearest the Pin was won by David Roberts who put an early marker down that the following groups were unable to beat.

Humph Harker - Most Golf
It seems that Humph found the most rough and won the bottle of wine for most use of the course.

The steak and ale pie with chips was much needed and very delicious.

Well done all those that attended.

Thanks

Steve
