Well, another enjoyable awayday, this time at Shrivenham Park.

The weather was perfect albeit a bit windy at times. The club did us proud with nice bacon rolls in the morning followed by excellent burger and chips late afternoon.

The best Stableford points were as follows. In third place after countback with Chris Barclay was Gavin Tarrant with 39 points, second place with 40 points was Clifford Bosley and, finally, in first place with a fantastic score of 48 points was Dave Roberts. Dave had the game of his life and I am sure that will be reflected in his handicap reduction on England Golf.

Best gross score was 85 which was shared between Steve Bury and myself.

We had two nearest the pins, hole 2 won by Dave Roberts and hole 15 by myself.

The team competition was split by only 22 points between the six teams, however team five won it in the end with 119 points. So well done to Chris Smyth, Alan Doig, Dave Roberts and Malcolm Peck.

The most golf played was Jim Hetherington who I am sure was protecting his handicap for the next awayday. He also spotted that the red wine supplied by Steve Gray was of good quality!

I look forward to seeing you all at Hinksey Heights on Tuesday 16th September for the next awayday and hopefully in good weather again.
