After battling through the South Oxfordshire traffic 23 golfers and 1 walker arrived at Hadden Hill to be greeted by coffee and bacon rolls.
The weather was so much better than last year although a bit cloudy and after several weeks of playing just 9 holes we enthusiastically headed on to the putting green and then onto the first tee for the traditional pre-game tipple (and photos) kindly provided by last months Away Day winner Graham Harding. Then it was onto the course in five groups 4 balls and 1 three ball for our individual and team competitions. After all the recent rains the course was in very good condition, especially for December with just a few temporary tees in place.
Fortunately the weather stayed dry for us.
Most golf played - Paul Wynn with 20 points and winning a bottle of wine (supplied by Chris Barclay). Dick gets a dishonourable mention for his 23 points. Paul gets to supply the bottle of wine for next time.
Nearest the pin – a very good shot from Derek Copson (he holed the birdie putt) saw him winning £10 and a sleeve of balls.
Overall Stableford Competition - Six golfers scored 36 points or more giving a final result:
Colin Bulpin – 39 points (would have been 41 without his handicap cut from winning earlier in the year. Now pushing Jim for the “Top Bandit” title.
Jim Hetherington – 38 points (still a Bandit)
Brian White - 37 points (on count back over back 9)
So Colin wins £20 plus a sleeve of balls, the TOFS trophy and a beautifully printed winners certificate (to follow). As punishment for winning two Away Days Colin will start next years Away Days with a 2 handicap penalty reduction and he also gets to supply the tipple on the tee for next time.
Team Competition
In the Team Competition it was again close (apart from the winners).

So Andrew and his team walked away with the 4 ball voucher for The Springs.
Andrew can add that to the vouchers he also holds for Brome Manor and Hennerton. Bit greedy mate!
The day was rounded off by an excellent two course Christmas dinner plus mince pies supplied by the terrific Hadden Hill team.
Overall excellent day!!
