Wrag Barn AwayDay - Oct 2023

21 of us attended the Wrag Barn Away Day which started with a superb full English breakfast in yet another excellent clubhouse..... if only Drayton could match the standards our Away Day courses deliver!.

As Arthur was sunning himself in his mankini, in his absence the Tipple of the Tee was provided by Steve Bury. A nice touch of Jamaican Spiced Rum was sure to get everybody going.

Wrag Barn is quite a long course with most par 4s being longer than the 11th at Drayton. Nevertheless, open to the challenge and with plenty of sunshine we all teed off with great expectations.

The winner of the Overall Stableford was Ron Jones with 43 points. Second was Brian Wray with 40 and in third was Graham Plested with 36 points.

There was only one name of the NTP market which was Malcolm Peck, who was in the last but one group.

The least number of putts was won by Dave Gomm, so a great introduction to his first TOFs Away Day.

A bottle of wine is always given to the player who makes most use of the course. In support of the winner of this, Derek Copson should have probably had two bottles 🙂. I'm sure he'll come back with vengeance next month. Congratulations to all the winners.

The November Away Day is at Rye Hill, Banbury which is a Par 72 and has been a Euro Pro-Tour venue. This is the first time the TOFs have played at Rye Hill, so I'm looking forward to it. It's bacon rolls to start followed by a one course meal after. Invites will be going out later this week

Steve
