Kirtlington’s wide, hard fairways and almost perfect weather meant that all thirteen of us scored over 30 Stableford points. In fact Yours Truly racked up a gob-smacking (for me), 48 points to take top prize. My strategy of the day was to follow the old maxim of “don’t hit it too hard” and it was no surprise that one of our always straight, but not too long hitters, Graham Harding came in 2nd on a normal match winning 46 points.
Nearest the Pin went to Steve Bury who landed a majestic 160 yd 7 iron to a few feet from the pin. The Lowest Number of Putts was won on countback by once again, Yours Truly with 31 putts. And no surprise that 2nd place went to Terry Stacey the master of ensuring his first (non) putt is from just off the green. I learnt that trick from you Terry and it worked a treat.
The Most Golf Played was another countback decision with Humph Harker just edging Dave Roberts. A credible 32 points for both of you does not deserve that accolade.
