Frank receives John Stanley Trophy from Brian

Hey, how was that for an end of term party, not half bad I would say. The golf as always was a bit patchy with mine more patchy than most. The weather was brilliant which is a taken for 2017 Tofs away days, and the course was in very good order, not muddy at all

As is often the case we didn’t have many winners with two players taking all the prizes. I had not seen the JS Trophy Brian M had bought us till yesterday, and we all thought it is fabulous, thanks very much Brian.

Frank was on good form, and came in with great scores of 38 stapleford points with only 31 putts and he was also eligible for the Tofs trophy so he was the first winner of the JS Trophy, and the TOFS Trophy and he also won the putting competition all of which won him other prizes and loads of money.

I was lucky enough to be playing with the precision winner of the nearest the pin competition, Les who showed us how he does it, with just 3 2/3 putters from the hole with Terry R and Dave B close seconds.

The Xmas 3 course meal, crackers and coffee provided by Hadden Hill caterers (same co. as ours) was excellent, and very good value. Then we had Rob the Harwell plucker on his guitar with a little ditty, “the golfers Xmas carol“, most of us hummed along with it. Great fun Rob, thanks.

I suggested and now have booked a meeting on Tuesday 23rd January at 8.45am at Drayton Park GC, with bacon baps and coffee before we go out for the roll up, everybody present at H/H meeting seemed up for it. We can vote our new Captain in for 2018, and raise any thoughts and ideas for the coming season. I hope all of our members can make that day, even if they have to leave after the meeting. Brian found that our group was so generous when collecting for the JS trophy, he has about £27 left over, so that can go towards paying for the mornings refreshments.
