West Berks Golf Club - 24th Oct 2017

Well, what can one say about such a Great day with extras?

Starting at the beginning, the coffee and bacon roll was right up there with the best. The golf was something else as far as I was concerned, although lots of you came in with good scores.

The Trophy was once again won by a worthy newcomer in the form of Mark, well done.
The man with the tricky Putter on this day was Humph with 29 putts, just beating Dave Le. on count back, but Dave did the rest of the business by winning the overall stapleford and nearest the pin, all off a 10 handicap.

The meal after we were all in was All Day Breakfast ( by special request of Frank) and was an amazing feast of quality. Being Dave Le’s. Birthday week, he kindly supplied cakes for all, or his wife did, they were Great.
Thank you Mrs Leak from the TOFS

The other extra was a Rendition of YMCA with words replaced with TOFS /golf related variants, by a man who surely should have been at the Edinburgh Festival or some other institution, but despite this was thoroughly enjoyed by all with the whole room joining in the choruses. The man’s name should you wish to avoid or thank him is Rob Strange.

Rob thanks for the hard work, it was great fun.

I have played with the stapleford / putt mixed formula, but can’t make it work in a meaningful way so have abandoned it. I would therefore suggest that we may have to adopt the same principal as other societies to give players a sporting chance, and that is dock the winners two h/c strokes for stapleford and add two putts for the putting. These are my mind ramblings and I wonder what other ideas we could consider, if in fact we wish to do anything?

Next outing will be a new venue for TOFS, Oxford GC, ox4 1pf 28th Nov. @ £35 all in.
