Well, that was a hot one, but despite melting we all had fun.
The views are as good as I was led to believe once one get up there.
The top score was 30 stapleford points with three in the frame: Graham, Brian M, but the Trophy went to Dave Le. on count back.
Rob had a credible 29, with the rest of us not far behind.
The putting was equally hard fought with Graham and Dave Le. again in the lead with 30 putts, so a putt off was played on the carpet (in the Club house, as they didn’t want to brave the sun again), best of three resulted in another prize for Dave, well done.
We did well on the NT Pin comp. “Four” of us yes four, hit the green!! Dave B, Brian M, Mike I, and myself, I managed to pip them with a few mm less. Interesting that measurements came in in all sorts of denominations, like old English Rods, Fahrenheit, Km, lbs, oz’s.
If only we had been real Europeans the last forty years, and fully adopted the metric system, we wouldn’t have all the confusions.
I am going to start a rumour, that due to measurement confusions in our national building trade, we have 23% less houses due to time loss working things out and correcting mistakes!! ie. Correct door, wrong size frame.
Sorry for the Rant.
Broome Manor, Swindon is a possibility for the end of next month. Any comments, suggestions welcome.
